Well, last night was the night we let Kennedy progressively "cry it out". I don't know what the guy was thinking that invented this method (that damn Ferber) but I hate it. I am awful at this sort of thing and hate seeing my kids scared. I know we have to all get some sleep and need to teach Kennedy to get herself to sleep, I just wish I had one (two) of those kids that naturally loved their sleep and went down without any problems.
I put her down and either Eric or myself went in after 5 minutes to tell her "night-night", lay her down and then we left. Then we waited 7 more minutes, then 10 more minutes, 12, 15, etc. She got quiet after about 35 minutes. Eric let her sleep for about 10 or 15 minutes before going in to cover her up and found her sleeping standing up hunched over the side of the crib. I wish he had never told me because it broke my heart and I lost it. She cried off and on for a bit longer after her put her down in her crib but she fell asleep and slept all through the night until 8:00 AM this morning. I'm sure she will be waking during the night over the next several days but she just wore herself out so much that she slept all through.
I don't know why I'm such a wuss over this. She was very cuddly this morning which made me sad but she is just fine and her jovial ole' self now. I know we have to do this if we want some real sleep around here but I DON'T LIKE IT! WAH!
