I finally made a decision about which play structure to get and ordered one. I am so excited for it to arrive. It will take 3-4 weeks and it's from Kids Creations (thanks Kim for telling me about them). I got Rainbow to send me the info on the preservative they use on the wood and it was Ethylene Glycol Monoprophyl Ether, EWWW! I read about it and decided I just wouldn't feel good about having my kids playing on it all the time. The structures from this company are more expensive but you NEVER have to stain them or treat them in any way. They are completely chemical free and made from the center of the redwood tree that is rot, splinter and decay resistant for 99 years! The wood will grey after the first year but it doesn't affect anything but the looks of it and I love the idea of not having to put stain on it all the time. The company also has an eco-friendly commitment. They practice sustainable forestry, replanting promptly after harvesting among other things. When I started putting all the info together it was an easy decision to make and I feel really good about it. A big plus for Eric is that these are SO much easier to put together than Rainbow's and other structures. It actually says they only take 3-4 hours. I know it will take us longer than that but it's good to know it's a lot easier than what we had been planning on. We ordered the Two Ring Adventure which is very comparable to the one at Costco and plenty for what we will need. So, we'll have it up and ready in about a month whenever anyone wants to come over and test it out.
