Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July!!! I meant to post more pictures of our trip but never got around to it. Things have been busy lately although I'm not sure why. I think busy is the wrong word and the right word would be TIRED! I just can't seem to find any energy lately since we got back. Something must be done and I know what it needs to be. I'm just waiting, hoping to find a little energy, so I won't give in when my little milk machine demands "MILK!". Too tired to think about that right now.....
We have managed to do a few fun things this week. On Thursday we got a few things we needed for camping this summer. I'm getting excited and hope it goes well. We won't be camping until the end of the summer probably but it's something to look forward to. We'll be camping in Birch Bay first and then a few weeks later at Rasar State Park. I'm glad they are both close by just in case.
The girls have been playing outside a ton with the nice weather. They love playing in the pool and on the swing set enjoying the beautiful weather we have been having.
Last night we went to the High School so I could walk and the girls could play with the soccer balls with their dad and run around. It was lots of fun and I think we'll try to do that more often. I had to use the trail around the ball fields because the track gates were locked, I don't remember them being locked in the summer????
Today is a busy day with a parade in Blaine and a picnic. This afternoon we'll go to a friends' house for a big BBQ and some fireworks. Don't think we'll stay too late because the kids will be wiped out. We got a few small fireworks for the girls, Madison remembers the fireworks we did on the street last year and talks about them all the time so she is really looking forward to it. We have some neighbors who light off some really big ones so Eric is a little worried about our dry yard and our play structure since we have fireworks on our roof every year from the neighbors. He may be up late with the hose in his hands on the front step : )
Still no luck with him finding a job. I was trying to brace myself for a long term lay off but it's been over a month and we are both pretty nervous what will happen. He even called some out of town companies that sounded promising for them to tell him things have slowed down. Things are still okay and we can do this a while longer but I'm starting to panic a little wondering just how long this will be. I don't do well with the not knowing and things just seem to be in limbo. Aside from the camping we can't really make any kind of plans and for some reason nothing really seems to be getting done around here. It's a weird time and the days are strange with him feeling like he should be at work and me not doing our normal things but his class is helping and giving him somewhere to be three days a week. We're doing fine though, just hoping something happens soon. He did talk to his old company again and had a really good feeling that they may bring him back but it's the same story of "things are slow". Once the economy picks up and the work is there he will have a job, it's just a waiting game.
On a happier note Lisa and I are planning a girls weekend away in October. We have decided to stay at a BEAUTIFUL home on Lummi Island. It's big with lots of room and completely renovated. It's got a sea level patio with a fire pit, gorgeous view among lots of other great things. I am so excited and wish it was sooner than it is but it's nice to have something to look forward to. So, if you are reading this and interested let me or Lisa know. We haven't formally booked it but I think once we do we will let people know and see who is interested.
The girls are doing great! They had a blast at my mom's house (even though she was ready to pull her hair out by the time we left) and are loving summer! They are having fun with Daddy home more so we are trying to look at the positive sides of things. Eric is much better with outside play than I am so I'm thankful he is here to push the swings and help them ride their scooters and bikes.
I've been trying to read a lot lately and just finished a book called A Yellow Raft in Blue Water. Awesome book, I recommend it highly. I'm no book worm and have never been to a book club so I won't begin to analyze it or tell you about it but it's one that kind of sticks with you and I keep connecting it to my life in lots of ways. Goodreads is great if you don't know about it. I feel a little embarrassed because I don't have many books on there but I get so many great ideas from my Goodreads friends and love ready what they have rated highly. It's a great way to get book ideas!
So, hope for a new job soon and exciting fun times planned ahead with camping and girls weekend. Things are good and there is so much to be thankful for. We are incredibly blessed with our gorgeous healthy girls.
Well, for a quick update this ended up being long. Don't have time to check for typos so I'm posting it and getting us ready to head to Blaine for the festivities. Have a Happy and Safe 4th of July!!!
