Hovander

We went to Hovander Park this morning. They were giving away all their pumpkins as well as flowers and big sunflowers that had gone to seed. We have been having fun watching our pet squirrel named Honeybee digging into the sunflower all afternoon today. They also had a cute little fall scene set up for pictures. Below is Madison sitting on the big pumpkin they had there. Hovander does this every year and it's quite a popular thing. There were lots of people there getting their pumpkins and enjoying the apple cider. We'll be going back next year for sure!

Family picture below.

Our plan was to head to Stoneyridge afterwards but we didn't make it. The wind was really blowing and Madison was cold. We went home to get her warmer clothes but she really didn't want to go and be outside in the wind so we decided to just stay home.

We had a fun morning at Hovander and a busy rest of the day at home. I canned 16 quarts of apple pie filling and made a big apple crisp. Eric's mom is here visiting and she brought a bunch of apples and we already had a bunch from apple picking so I needed to do something with a bunch of them and that's what I came up with. It takes two quarts for one pie. The kitchen looks like a tornado went through it but it was worth it.
Eric's mom will be leaving tomorrow after church and I haven't opened my backpack since I left class Wednesday night which is not good because I have my bones test Monday afternoon. I'll do some studying tomorrow afternoon and some Monday as well and should do fine on it.

I have given up Facebook for three days and that will end tomorrow around noon. I thought I would really miss it but I haven't. A couple of times when I sat down at my computer and didn't have anything pressing to do I thought about signing on but I refrained and found something more important to do. You can really get sucked into it and carried away with it. I started feeling like I needed a little reality check and was putting way too much concern into things on there that have absolutely no importance to me at all. I am going to make a habit of some scheduled Facebook striking from now on.

There was a talk last night by Alfie Kohn at WCC that I really wanted to go to. I was so tired that I didn't go but I really would have liked to have heard the talk. It seems he's pretty controversial and the school district was against him talking at all. Of course any kind of controversy makes things more interesting so I was disappointed to miss it but hope I can hear about it from someone who went.

Oh, by the way the pictures above are from my new camera! I felt really lost without one so I'm glad I now have it.

Girls weekend is less than a month away. I am getting so excited! It's going to be so much fun, there is a great (although) small group of us going and it's going to be so fun to just hang out and have girl time, sleep, eat and be surrounded by beautiful views in an amazing house. I am getting more and more excited with each passing day! I am going to miss my family but think I am going to enjoy this so much I may be bugging my friends to go again much more often now.

No news on the job front but we know a job is on its way eventually. Eric is enjoying his math class he is taking on BTC and homework and studying is keeping us both very busy.

I haven't decided anything at all yet but I have been contemplating changing my program from Rad. Tech. to nursing. I started thinking that nurses would have many more options as far as jobs and different places they could work than Rad. Techs. I don't think I would enjoy nursing as much but maybe I would??? I met with the BTC health occupations advisor just to get some info about it and also the rad tech. program. The schooling is practically the same amount of time with the exception of working 1000 hours as an LPN before you go on for the RN. There are a few extra classes for nursing but not many at all, maybe a quarter or so more. I don't know, it's a big decision and I'm just thinking about it right now. I don't have to know anything just yet unless I want to take another class next quarter besides A&P 2 which I don't know if I do. After A&P 2 I'll have to make a decision. One of the main reasons I'm thinking about it is the much more flexible schooling schedule for nurses as opposed to the Rad. Techn. program. Nursing is offered part time and also an evening program and rad tech is only full time and ONLY begins in the fall. Lots to think about.
I think that's about enough of an update for now. Happy Fall!

I vote for nursing program...you would be an awesome nurse. Not that you wouldn't be an awesome Rad tech but I agree there might be more options as a nurse...
