Girls Weekend Comes and Goes

As usual my pictures are going to be out of order. This weekend marked the first girls weekend I have had since having kids. I've been talking about going away for a girls weekend for what seems like years but it finally materialized in a beautiful cabin on Lummi Island called The Oyster House. The above picture is the upstairs bathroom that was shared by me and Lisa. I forgot to take pictures of the downstairs bathroom and bedroom which Jennifer used but they were equally as beautiful as the rest of the house.
The Oyster house was a fishing cabin built in the 1950's. The current owners bought it from the original owner and spent three years renovating it into the beautiful vacation home it is now. The beautiful materials used are amazing but nothing was as spectacular as the view.
I lucked out and scored the master bedroom. This room was HUGE! I had a king sized bed all to myself. The first night I slept on one side but last night I was right in the MIDDLE! It was the most comfortable bed ever.

This is still the master bedroom. There was a reading chair next to a magazine rack overlooking the gorgeous view.

The windows in the master bedroom. Yep, I told you I lucked out. Unfortunately I just used this room to sleep but would love to go back again and do a little more relaxing.

Master bedroom DVD player, TV and dresser.

The other upstairs bedroom. It was decorated very cute, Madison loved this mermaid when I got home and showed her the picture.

Another view of the second upstairs bedroom.

The view of the house from the beach. This would be a great house to visit in the summer with this outside fire pit. It also had an outdoor shower to wash the sand off, a BBQ and a picnic table up this set of stairs.

The fish!

This bookcase was one of my favorite things about the house along with the floors. They were gorgeous wood (I think teak) in a dark tone and beautiful. There was plenty of games, toys and children's books. My kids would have loved this place, maybe I'll bring them another time.

The fireplace.

A view from the deck.

The weather was interesting. We had some sun but quite a bit of stormy weather which added to the coziness of the house. I nearly fell asleep yesterday on the couch with the rain coming down outside, it was so relaxing.

Rainbow.

This picture was taken just after we arrived and started unpacking. We brought a ridiculous amount of food. Unfortunately we were unaware of the amount of stairs we had to haul all of our stuff down to get to the house. There were nearly 80 steps to the house and another 30+ to the beach. We got a work out but would have packed very differently had we known. The kitchen was very cute and well stocked with dishes, glasses, utensils, seasonings, etc. We split up the meals prior to coming and I was in charge of dinner the first night. We had chili, cornbread and salad. The next morning Jennifer made a wonderful breakfast casserole, fruit and fruit pastries. Lisa was in charge of dinner last night and we had pizza, two kinds of salad, and more snacks, appetizers and munchies than I could even begin to mention. My favorite was the smoked salmon, and taco dip. I wish I had remembered to take a picture of the inside of the fridge, we almost couldn't fit everything into it! We ate so much good food but didn't even eat a fraction of what we brought so up the stairs it went today. My legs are jello!

From the kitchen.

Hi Jennifer!

Another view of the kitchen.

Where we spent most of our time. The couch was huge and could have actually slept two in a pinch.
I missed my family and was so happy to see them today. I couldn't wait to get home and squish Kendy Coo's cheeks and give my Madison a big hug. Eric was great with the girls and cleaned the house while I was gone. I feel spoiled but so thankful for such a fun weekend with girlfriends. I realize what a much needed getaway it was and will remember the memories we had. We played games had a few cocktails and got a little silly once or twice. We relaxed, slept as late as we wanted (which really wasn't all that late) and watched a movie during the day! We had fun playing name that tune last night with iPods and I have a very interesting video of Lisa and Jennifer doing the "Macarena" but I dare not share it with you all. I want them to speak to me again so I'll refrain from posting that little juicy bit of video.
So, I suppose it's time to start planning girls weekend #2!
