Tea, Spiderman and Waffles

Here are a few pictures of the past couple of days and an update of what we have been up to since Christmas. Above is a picture of Kennedy with one of her favorite presents, a mini tea set. Her sister has a bigger one and she adores it so I thought she needed her very own. Her and her sister have served us many cups of tea so far. Very fun!
Our tree came down on Christmas night. Heating the house since early December, when we got our tree left our tree dispensing needles to the floor like crazy. Also, Eric headed out of town yesterday for the week so we wanted to get all the Christmas stuff put away before he was gone for the week. He's working for my dad in Wenatchee for a week or two so the girls and I are flying solo. It hasn't even been 24 hours yet but I'm loving it. It's been a long time since it was just the three of us again and I've missed the every day time with them like we used to have. I know I'll be pulling my hair out in a day or so but today is great! I rely on Eric so much when he is here and it's nice to be doing things my way again. He does a great job but it feels good to be caring for them myself and have him working even if it's only for a couple of weeks.
He will be contacting some out of town/out of state companies after the first of the year in hopes of going to work for one of them. Even a country wide search in his field produced very few results so we will feel very lucky if/when he does land something.
I was trying to decide whether or not to take my next and last prerequisite class winter quarter since things are so up in the air with Eric and work but two friends have so graciously offered to provide child care for my girls so that I can go. I am so thankful that I have friends I trust implicitly to care for my girls. I am taking a risk though as class meets only once a week (it's an online/hybrid class) and will be meeting for tests and labs which will mean I really can't afford to miss the classes. If one of my kids or my friends' kids gets sick I may find myself in a pickle but I need to hope for the best and chance it in hopes of getting this class under my belt. A backup babysitter would be nice for such a situation but I am not sure how to go about finding one. I think people who have good ones don't want to share so are reluctant to pass on references. I don't blame them really. I do have a neighbor who has a daughter who might be interested but this obstacle of parenting does not appeal to me although I think the girls would absolutely love to have a teenage girl to have fun with. I worry of boyfriends over, telephone calls and too much TV but Madison is plenty old enough to tell me what goes on so hopefully none of that would be a problem. Something I will have to do..............someday.
Yesterday we made a few exchanges for gifts Kennedy got. She got a Radioflyer bike that was too small for her and similar to the one she already has. We headed to the bike department and found a couple of cute little bikes with training wheels that were just perfect for her. There was a cute pink one hanging and a Spiderman one on the ground. She hoped right on that Spiderman one and didn't want anything to do with the pink one. When we got the pink one down and had her choose she was adamant that she wanted the Spiderman one and kept saying "My Spiderman!". It was pretty cute and we couldn't argue with her, she knew what she wanted.
We didn't get it yet as they didn't have any others put together except the one on the floor so Eric is going to pick it up next week. We also took a few other toys back and I took her down all the toy aisles and the ONLY aisle she was remotely interested in was the trucks aisle. She was pushing all the buttons and so excited. She ended up withe a motorcycle that makes noise and plays her "favorite song" apparently and it drives so we've been having lots of fun with it. She did get one "girl" toy that was a Strawberry Shortcake with a pink car. She is so funny and just keeps us laughing all the time. I love how she is such her own little person and so independent. She knows what she wants and how to get it. She does love princesses although I'm not sure she loves them inherantly or just loves them because her sister loves them and she looks up to her. I guess time will tell on that one. I can't wait to get some pictures of her on her Spiderman bike with her pink princess helmet. Gotta love that girl!
I got a waffle maker from my dad and his wife for Christmas. Isn't it pretty? Too bad my kitchen is small and I have no where to put it.

My first waffles in the new maker. These are yummy chocolate chip ones. A few recipes came with the maker. I noticed that each waffle improved as I made them, the first couple didn't turn out very well. Eric will like this, he LOVES breakfast. The girls weren't all that excited by them but I loved them! They will come around I'm sure.
