Well, I did it again this year. Every year I (sort of) tell myself I won't do it again but I have to admit that I have fun getting up early and trying to score some great deals. I got up at the unspeakable time of 3:15 a.m. Kennedy usually wakes me up around 3:30 so I thought I might as well feed her (yes, I know....why am I still feeding an almost 16 month old in the middle of the night? - Something I ask myself everyday) a few minutes early and be at Kohl's by 4:00 a.m. as they had some stuff on sale that I wanted. I pulled into Kohl's right at 4:00 and they had just started letting people in. I have NEVER seen a line so long, it completely wrapped around the store on the sidewalk over to Target. By the time I parked and walked into the slowly trickling line I wondered how all of those people would fit in there. Despite getting there when they opened I didn't get any of the things I really wanted as they were already gone. I had a few things in my arms as I asked an associate where the line was. She pointed and I followed it all the way around the perimeter of the store back to where it started. NO THANK YOU and I put my stuff back and left. There is no way that the wait in line would have been any shorter than 2 hours long.
Despite my frustration I headed to Fred Meyer after a quick drive thru at Starbucks. They opened at 5:00 a.m. and I got there about 4:50. There was not many people in line and I got right in, got what I wanted (stocked up on socks for sure) and checked right out. A much different experience so I was psyched and ready for my next stop.
K-Mart was next as they had a pink guitar in their ad for a good price and Miss Madison has been asking for one. Same story there as Fred Meyer although I didn't get the guitar since the kid couldn't actually play it. They just pretended to play it as it played it's own music. A cash register for Madison was what I ended up getting instead, she will LOVE it.
My last stop was Office Max for some great deals on Flash Drives.
I was home by 7:30 a.m. and before everyone else was awake. It was fun and I learned to skip Kohls and just start at Fred Meyer at 5:00.
I got some good stuff including socks for everyone and tights for girls, LeapFrog fridge toy for Kennedy, cash register for Madison, two games (Catch Phrase and Apples to Apples) a gift for Eric, and that's about it. Not too much damage thankfully. I'm making all my other gifts so that should do it for Christmas shopping.
Hope you all had a fun after-turkey day.
