Last weekend (May 15th & 16th) we went camping at Lincoln Rock State Park near Wenatchee. We had the best time. This park is, by far, our favorite camping spot. I can't say enough great things about it. The campsites were huge, covered in grass (and not dirt/gravel), the bathrooms were so clean, there was water play, a wonderful playground, docks, views, etc. We had so much fun. This was our first camping trip of the season. We are newbies to camping so we are still learning the ropes. We managed to get ourselves really organized which resulted in us taking a lot of things we didn't need. That was fine, I would rather have extra tarps and not need them than to need them and not have them. Of course by the time we came home everything was a mess again and needed reorganizing. As you can see in the above picture there was a large open grass field so we could pitch our tents anywhere. We loved having them back away from the site a bit, we felt like we had so much room there. I grew up going to this park my whole life but had never been to the campsites before.

Playing in one of the tents. We put two up and we put one adult and one child in each. When they get older they can stay together in one. I slept so poorly the first night that Eric offered to sleep with both kids the second night. It helped but I still have a really hard time sleeping in the tent. I don't know if it's the noises or being uncomfortable but I rarely get more than 2-3 hours of sleep a night while camping. This is the one (albeit big one) thing that I don't like about camping. We are working on it and I'm determined to get the right sleeping circumstance to get a good nights rest while sleeping under the stars because I love it. I love being in the tent and hearing the birds in the morning, it's so peaceful. I even love being in the tent while it's raining as it did the second night we were there. It rained a lot during the night but dried up early in the morning and things were mostly dry by the time we got up. We got lucky, our stuff was under the trees so it didn't get wet much at all anyway. We had the most amazing weather last weekend. It was a great way to start our camping season.

The water was gorgeous. It was like a mirror and completely still with the exception of the fish we could see making ripples in the Columbia River. This is a great place to go if you have a boat...these docks were all around the campsites and you could just park your boat right by your campsite and go hop on your boat.

Kennedy playing at the wading area around 7:30 a.m. She was wide awake the first morning by 5:30. She was on the playground, in the swimming area and all over the park before most people got up. That's my girl!

This was taking from the playground and shows the wading area in the distance and Turtle Rock past that. The playground was so much fun and had some equipment I had never seen before. The kids loved it there.

More water play. Turtle Rock in the background. This little island is shaped like a turtle but, unfortunately, the view from this area of the park is showing us his rear end.

Fun in the sun.

The water was cold.

My K and her pink cheeks.

My beautiful Madison.

This is what this park was named after - the view shows a profile of President Abraham Lincoln's profile...can you find it?

Can you see it yet?

Ah, I got a much closer picture from the dock and zoomed it. You can't miss it now.

Another gorgeous view from the dock.
A great weekend had by all. We can't wait to go back there next year, maybe a couple of times. We both have family there that visited us and the girls loved seeing Grandpa and two of her Grandma's. I also saw an old friend and her son who came by to visit. We can't wait to go camping again!
