How Great

We all have so much stuff that I have often been tempted to gift people a donation in their name instead of getting them more "stuff". I have never done it though because I wonder if people would actually appreciate something like this or if they would wonder why the heck I was doing that instead of getting them more "stuff". But...today someone gave me the wonderful gift of a donation made in my honor for the Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill Recovery efforts. I was so, extremely, touched by this gift that I will no longer worry what people will think. It was very moving that someone would make this donation in my honor for something they knew was important to me. It meant much more than any"thing" would have meant.
If you are interested in doing something similar or just making a donation to something that is important to you the website for this particular charitable organization is http://www.greatergood.org/. There are many different charities you can donate to thru this particular site.
"GreaterGood.org is an independent charitable organization devoted to addressing the health and well-being of people (particularly women and children), animals, and the planet. Through simple, everyday actions, people who care about nurturing hope and healing in our shared world can support the efforts of worthy charities worldwide." (Taken from the card that was given to me).
There are also really great gifts and items you can buy that help support the cause of your choice. It's worth checking out.
