Yesterday was Madison's first jog-a-thon. I volunteered to help punch cards as each child passed by completing a lap. The laps were not long so I did lots of punching. It was really fun and I was so impressed by the kids and how hard they worked. It was raining when the volunteers got out there but it slowed down quickly and the kids had a great time!
The kindergartners were first and Madison's class was the first class out. Here they come to find their stations and get their tags. On orientation day the parents put rubber bands on a plain white t-shirt and the teachers dyed them for things like the jog-a-thon and field trips.
She did great running but took some time to walk when she got tired. I kept trying to get a picture of her running but was always too busy stamping cards so this is the only action shot I got of her during the jog-a-thon.
Afterwards they celebrated with water and Popsicles.
Yum! I see this girl every day but am always amazed in pictures just how big and grown up she looks. She is settling into kindergarten and each day gets better and better for her. She's so amazingly capable, smart and strong. Her courage during these first few weeks of school has amazed me. This girl is going places but for now she is going to sit down and enjoy her Popsicle.
