Sunday at Home

Eric was out of town all week (unexpectedly) so we were all exhausted today. He got home last night while I was at church with the girls and by the time we got home they had missed him so much we let them stay up late playing outside and reading extra books at bedtime. Last night around 3:30-4:00 a.m. Madison woke up sick. Her tummy hurt and she kept throwing up. This is a picture I just took of her sleeping on the couch. She was so tired, she has been sleeping for a long time. My sweet girl.

It's Memorial Day Weekend and we were going to go on a family hike tomorrow to Stimpson Family Nature Reserve (http://www.co.whatcom.wa.us/parks/trails/stimpson.jsp) but we'll have to hold off until Madison is feeling better. If she wakes up from her nap feeling better and continues to feel better by tomorrow we'll probably do a short family outing instead, maybe Hovander.

On the menu tonight is grilled pork chops, grilled corn on the cob, pasta salad and fruit salad (with pineapple : ) Yum, I love holiday weekends : )

I'm really trying to "let things go" but really? I am going to have to stare at this calendar until the end of June unless I want to re-do Madison's work. As you can see the top row is nice and lined up and Madison did the rest. Is this my child??? There are squares for each day, how could she not line up the numbers in their own square??
It's okay, she loves this calendar and uses it daily to change the date and see what is going on. I'll just have to avoid it out of my periphereal vision if I can. She really is a perfectionist in a lot of ways so I am secretly happy when I do see something like this. She left her lunch bag at school on Friday for the first time ever and she was mortified. I told her it was fine and I actually tried to give her a high five for finally forgetting something but she wanted no part in it. She and one other (very quiet) girl are the only two kids in her class who have only turned a card once all year (the reminder system they use at school for talking or doing something you aren't supposed to be doing). I keep teasing her that I want her to get a card flipped that day but it won't happen. She'll end the year with that one flipped card that still haunts her. I love this kid!
