Recycling Info
Okay, I sent a similar email to a group of 60 moms with no response so I thought I would post it here in hopes someone, anyone will help make the pledge to do their part. Holiday time is coming and that means TONS of waste. There is waste with gift wrap, food waste, and PACKAGING among other things. I don't expect everyone to turn into a recycle guru overnight, I'm still working hard on recycling myself. But at holiday time, especially, people can make a big difference. So, wrapping paper and gift bags (as long as they are paper and not coated in plastic) CAN be recycled with mixed paper. More importantly, the plastic packaging electronics and toys often come in can be recycled but it's a little more difficult. You can NOT put it out with your curbside recycling. You can collect it in 30 gallon garbage sacks and take it in to Sanitary Service Company and pay $5.00 per bag for them to recycle it. Nobody wants to pay for recycling but if you think of all the plastic that is going into the trash and the landfills I think it's worth it to collect it and take it in when you have a bag or two full. Having said all that, if you don't like the idea of paying for it I would be happy to add it to our collection and take it in myself. Plastic isn't going anywhere when it hits the landfill, it does not break down and it's there for the rest of time so at some point we'll have to figure out what to do if we want a planet to live on and not just a plastic disposal sphere.
