I can't seem to find much time these days to update my blog but I thought I would take a few minutes to post.
It's been busy around here trying to get the yard ready for the swing set that arrived last week. Eric injured his back pretty bad at the gym last week and that has slowed the project down substantially. He worked out there on Saturday and was practically unable to move yesterday so we decided to just wait until next weekend to let his back heal. Hopefully the yard will be level enough by the end of Saturday to start putting it together on Sunday. We'll see. I'm also not sure how long it will take us to put it together but I would be surprised if we can finish it in one day. We'll see how much the kids allow us to get done.
I did get my garden planted on Saturday but did it in such a rush that it will be interesting to see what happens. It's all really an experiment to me since I know nothing about gardening. My lack of patience in combo with that doesn't make for the best gardener around. I don't have the patience to plant in succession so I end up with too much when it comes in and then nothing. Last year was my first attempt and this year my garden has grown by 4 times the size so it should be a good learning experience.
I'm getting really anxious to have the garden growing, the play structure up, the gravel brought in, the retaining wall done around the structure, the pools out for the kids, the clothes line hanging with freshly washed clothes and the weather to be beautiful.
Madison and I had a mommy and daughter day yesterday and it was a lot of fun. We went to lunch, a movie and to the store together and I realized how much fun we both had and how important it is that I make time to do that more often. There is far too much negative attention given and not enough positive attention and it doesn't make anyone happy. I definitely seem to be in a parenting rut right now so this was a good day with Madison that we will both remember (even if she won't admit it).
I had the opportunity to go see Jodi McVittie, M.D. last week. She is a parenting educator who was speaking at WCC. She was great and it helped me to listen to some of the things she had to say and get a new perspective on this job of mine. I am so blessed to be a stay at home mom and I am so lucky to have two healthy children but it's been a long time since I've gotten a good nights sleep and a long time since I've been to the gym since everyone has been sick for so long. I feel like I'm three steps behind all the time and I'm really hoping we can all get over the sickness, get some good rest and get back to exercising. As Jodi said.....If Mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy! Boy, that is the truth.
