Dilly Beans

This is how many beans I picked today and I didn't even pick all of them. I had more than I thought.

Here they are after they were washed and trimmed. The bundle of beans in the bottom right hand corner were harvested from the bush bean that Madison's preschool class brought home in a baggie with a cotton ball that we taped to the window until it sprouted. Hers were the biggest beans of the bunch (because the others were just planted in the ground without sprouting first). She wasn't home so I made sure to set them aside in the picture so I could tell her how big hers were, she was pretty proud of those beans.

Here are the dilly beans after being processed. They have cayenne pepper, garlic and dill in them with the vinegar, pickling salt and water liquid. It was fun, I have never canned anything besides jam before so it was fun to try something new. I have really enjoyed preserving this year and hope to do more things next year.
