First Sleep Over

We dropped Lily and her mom off around 3:00 for about an hour while we came home and got ready for our first sleep over! The girls were so excited! I had a talk with them about letting our guest choose first and I'm happy to say that Madison was an amazing host. She made me proud and ALWAYS asked her friend what color of plate or which this or that she wanted first. It was lovely to see. Shortly after she got here they decided to set up sleeping bags on the floor in the bedroom (despite several sleeping options). They were very excited for the slumber party fun!

We had scrambled eggs, sausage and waffles for dinner. Mmmm, breakfast for dinner! All of the kids ate really well after a long day outside playing.

There was lots more outside play before and after dinner.

They had fun checking out the two frogs that live in our deck box. This year we have a red one....

and a green one. Lily was excited to touch it.

Eric and Kennedy left for a little bit and came back with mini Blizzards for the girls from DQ. They were happy campers! Around 7:00 we put on PJ's, brushed teeth and started the movie Gnomeo and Juliet. I thought they would fall asleep watching it but NOPE!

After the movie Lily and Madison both read two bedtime books. I loved this! They both helped each other with a few words and Kennedy was loving having the big girls read. It was just a lovely moment.

More reading.

Time to crawl in the sleeping bags and go to sleep. Yeah, right! It was probably around 9:00 or a little after at this point.

Kennedy fell asleep rather quickly but the older girls stayed up looking at books and talking. I thought it was great!

Not quite asleep but close. It was around 10:00 before everyone was asleep, everyone except me. I hit the hay very shortly after because I knew they would likely wake up early.

They woke around 7:30. They were all a bit groggy but it didn't take them long to perk up. They had some banana bread for breakfast and wanted to do some science projects. We started with the Bubbling Wizard's Brew....

Here is Lily just about to put the baking soda into her jar.

Wow....chemical reaction!

Madison's turn.

Cool!

Now, time for Kennedy. I knew she put in more than a few drops of that food coloring...turkey!

And, I wasn't going to go to all of this set up and not get to do one for myself.

Now, let's play in it!

Next up was a floating ball game.

Cool...air pressure!

I think they started to get a little light headed from all of the blowing into the straw so it was time for our next project.

Swirly Snakes.

This is the only picture I got of this project. It was all about balancing but since hands were very grabby we ended up using some tape so the point was lost. Oh well, it was fun which I guess WAS the point after all.

I'm wondering why we haven't done a sleep over before. We all had so much fun and the girls can't wait to do it again!

Wow! You have cool sleepovers - with entertainment in the morning and everything. You go girl! I feed 'em breakfast and let the kids fend for themselves. I want a sleepover at your house!

What sweet girls, how much fun they had and what a good idea to have some projects for them to do the next day.
