Music, Mountains and Musings

Today's post will be random topics. First, I can't get enough of this song. The whole CD is soothing and soulful but this one is my favorite (and another one called El Camino). If you haven't heard Amos Lee check him out!

Here is El Camino

The past couple of days Mt. Baker has been stunning. The picture I snapped when I picked Madison up from school was not great and there are ugly apartments in the way but the sky has been clear and the mountain seems to almost glow.

Today I took Hailey (or vice versa) for a walk at Boulevard with a friend and her dog. It was fun but lots of work. Hailey got very excited by other dogs and just any ole' thing she could sniff out or look at. I am actually proud of myself for even taking her for walks, I was kind of scared of the idea of it at first since I have never lived with a dog before. I wasn't sure what to do if she barked at another dog or if a dog barked at her. It has been so much fun though, to my surprise. I am finding that many dog owners don't actually know what they are doing either. I'm not sure if that makes me feel better or worse, I'll have to think about that one. I'm debating one of the leashes that retracts, if any readers have thoughts send them my way. I literally have a sore right shoulder from her tugging and pulling on the leash today. It was a bit chilly but so much fun to take her for a walk with a friend. We chatted up another nice lady with a Springer Spaniel who said she would never get any other kind of dog. Her Bella was 8 years old.

I don't know if it's the CD I am listening to (Amos Lee), the beautiful views I have been seeing, welcoming Hailey into our family, or maybe the bit of exercise I have been getting walking Hailey but I've been feeling
more peace the past several days than I would have imagined given our recent news of Eric's unemployment. I can't explain it but I just have a feeling that things will work out somehow. Things are a little bit clearer and life just doesn't feel quite as colorless as it did. Tomorrow might be another story but I'm going with it for now.
