Science Lesson

Wow, it's been a long time since I've posted anything on my blog. It's been a very long couple of months. Eric took a job out of state and was gone for three weeks straight, all during my last month of the quarter including finals. The past couple of weeks he has been working temporarily for a company out of Spokane. He's been working on a job in Pullman for that company. So, I've been a little busy needless to say. It's been a lot of work being a "single mom" but the recent arrangement is working out so much nicer than the three straight weeks away, I look so forward to the weekends when he comes home and I can have a real break. We aren't sure how long this will last but are incredibly thankful for the opportunity while it's here. I finished my quarter and have made a decision about the direction I will head with school. I will be doing the nursing program, first doing the LPN program followed by the RN program. It makes so much more sense than I don't know why I didn't make the decision sooner. The schedule is much more practical, I will be able to go to school and be done by the time both girls are in school as opposed to just starting the program when they go to school. I will have endless opportunities for jobs with a nursing degree which is not the case with the radiology tech. degree. I am slightly disappointed because it's not the initial direction I wanted to go but I am excited and think I will really enjoy it. I know a lot of nurses, many of which I grew up with or went to high school with who I have recently chatted with who absolutely love what they do and can't say enough good things about it. It feels good to finally make a decision, ah!
I have one 2 credit class and a 6 week CNA program to complete before I can get on the waiting list for this program. I may be taking the 2 credit class in May but am not sure how/when I will be able to take the CNA program as it's full time for those 6 weeks. I think I will try to take it during the summer and find a babysitter (who will be out of school for the summer) to watch the girls if Eric is still working. So, I should be on the waiting list some time this summer. Once I'm on the list I can go ahead and complete the few prerequisites I would need for the RN program ahead of time and get them out of the way. I believe there are only 2 other classes at that point. The way the program works at BTC is that once you complete your LPN you must work a certain number of hours as an LPN before doing the RN program. Although this is probably a good idea I'm not crazy about the idea as I would just prefer to push through and get all the schooling done first. Not a big deal though.
Enough about me....the girls are doing wonderfully. I am amazed at how tall they are both getting and am noticing in pictures how the pants that used to be long on Madison are now too short. They are growing into the most amazing young ladies.
Madison is in the homestretch of preschool and will be heading to kindergarten next year. We are all so excited for her, she is ready for the challenge and I know she will do great. Kennedy is going to head to preschool next year and it can't come soon enough for her. She LOVES going into kids rooms whether we are at church or Fred Meyer and races in with barely a goodbye for me. She is eager, fearless, spunky and amazing. I feel incredibly blessed every day to be fortunate enough to be the mother to these girls.
Having said that we have had our share of "issues" lately. It seems the teenage attitude has hit my five year old already. Grumpiness and pouting are daily occurrences around here but we manage to get past those and our days are mostly great with some exceptions here and there.
These pictures were taken last week while doing one of our favorite projects. The girls loved it as always.
That's probably enough catch up for now.
