Half Acre Farm

We finally made it out to Half Acre Farm today. It's located on Boxx Berry Farm and it's a U-Pick, no-spray vegetable garden. I think it's organic but they aren't certified so can't call themselves that. I have been paying $2.99 for 3 tiny organic beets for months now at the grocery store and today I got 5 really big ones, 2 large Walla Walla sweet onions, green and yellow pole beans, some fingerling potatoes, a couple of purple cauliflowers and one yellow cauliflower all for $10.50! The girls had so much fun picking beans off the plants, picking out the perfect cauliflower heads, pulling the beets out of the ground and digging the potatoes out. It was so much fun and I can't express how happy it makes me that the kids see where food actually comes from as opposed to a fluorescent lit grocery store shelves. It was a beautiful afternoon and a great thing to do as we waited for Daddy to get home from being gone all week.

Going with friends always makes it more fun. Finn and his great grin!

The garden is quite large and they have a lot of stuff to choose from.

Getting ready to wash off our veggies.

Mmmm!
