Eric is out of town again this week. The girls and I are enjoying our summer despite Eric being gone so much. He's feeling better "doing" something and the girls and I can feel somewhat normal. The worst part is the afternoon/evening when he would normally be getting home from work and doesn't. The heat hasn't helped my parenting as I tend to be cranky when I'm too hot. Despite the heat we're doing well and I'm starting to dread that first day of school. They are both so ready but it's going to be a hard day saying goodbye to my babies, especially Madison who will be gone all day.
Speaking of Madison....she is in her first swimming lessons since she was a baby. She decided she wasn't ready to start when her sister did but went with me everyday and watched how much fun she was having. She decided she was ready so I went ahead and signed them both up for this week. She's doing great and getting more comfortable in the water. I'm so proud of her. It's so hard for her to want so badly to do thing but being too scared. She has come so far though and I know she will continue to, she just needs to move at her own pace. Good for you Madison!!
Above is a random picture from last week. We got up and this spider was suspended in the middle of our living room on a big web we would have walked right through if we hadn't seen it. Madison took the picture.
Madison is a big fan of Little House on the Prairie and came over to me today with this on her head saying she looked like the people on the show. She knows how to rock prairie garb!
Trying to stay cool today. Aside from me there hasn't been many clothes being worn the past few days.
I'm not sure what compelled me to snap this picture today but I decided to. Years ago Eric and I were taking a walk in Fairhaven and came across this house. This was many years before I was ever pregnant with Madison. I almost never covet other peoples houses, I am happy with ours although many are bigger, better, cleaner, etc. I'm thankful for our house and really like it. We have a good backyard for the kids and enough room. But, this is the one house I always think about when I think of moving. I'm not sure what it is but I am in love with this house. I love yellow houses to begin with but that's not it. I love the style, the size, the location, the yard, the trees on one side with sun on the other, the trail nearby, etc. I've never been in it but I have driven by over the years just to check in on it I suppose. Currently they have two great gardens and lots of potted flowers in the front yard. Maybe someday....
Madison got a gift card to Katie's Cupcakes in Fairhaven for her birthday (even though it's not actually her birthday yet). She has been excited to go there ever since and has been carrying her gift card around in her purse. I promised her we could go there one day after swimming this week and today was the day. The girls loved their cupcakes and had a great time. As we were sitting there I noticed this painting on the wall and thought it was interesting. It's a painting of Little Red Riding Hood. It's hard to see but there is an image of someone with an ax and Grandma laying flat on her back. I found it slightly disturbing but I never really did get art.
So, that is a random summer Tuesday around here.
