Kenroy and Such

I couldn't take the girls to my middle school without also taking them to my elementary school. After we left Sterling we went up the road to Kenroy. It was a strange feeling to go to there and see where I played at recess, where my K-6 grade classes were. It seemed like a much bigger place when I was a kid, everywhere I went in Wenatchee (that I frequented as a kid) felt really small and much less intimidating as it did as a timid kid.

The gate is new. The walkway goes right alongside where my kindergarten class was. Straight ahead was my 2nd grade class if I remember correctly.

Here is the playground. I couldn't see much that was the same as when I was a kid except the tether ball which is where I spent most of my time anyway.

Here is a view from the street. There were no plastic toys or brightly colored slides when I was a kid but, other than that, it really did seem familiar.

After that we drove up the road to the house I lived in from the time I was 9 months old until I was 18 years old. They had it decorated for Christmas. A lot is different but it's basically very much the same. The trees are bigger and some trees are gone (while some have been added) but it also seems very familiar in a strange way. It was fun to take the girls to see these places and I'm sure we'll do it again. Eric wants to take them to see his old schools next time.
We had a lovely visit to our hometown over Thanksgiving weekend and truly have so much to be thankful for.
