I'm so torn on this one. There is such conflicting information and research supporting both sides of the story. I was going to list some websites I have been reading but decided not to. There are so many reputable sites out there and people have their favorites for topics like this. I know there is new research saying there is NO link between autism and the MMR vaccine but there is so much info saying this study is false.
This is a real struggle for me as I want my kids to be protected from disease but I also don't want to take the risk if there is a positive link.
After Kennedy's first doctor visit as an infant where she got three injections with 5 different vaccines in them I decided I was not going to do that again, whether or not there is any link. It seems like SO much vaccine for such a small infant. There are also some very controversial things that go into making the vaccines that I learned after the fact that gave me much hesitation. Some vaccines are actually cultured in monkey kidney cells instead of human cells. And, from what I understand, the link with the MMR is due (at least in part) because it is actually a "live" virus. The others are inactivated.
Because there is so much to think about with vaccines I decided, after that first 5 vaccine dose, to do only one vaccine at a time and have them no closer than 3-6 months apart. I don't know if it's necessary but it makes me feel a little better until more clear information is available. Would love an email from anyone who has info or something to weigh in on regarding this issue. It's a complicated one.
