Still Sleeping

It's 8:42 a.m. and my girls are still sleeping. Very unheard of around here, they are always up about 7:40 a.m. Poor things have been sick and so have I.
I actually got up this morning and have had two cups of tea (one with caffeine before I had food and I didn't feel good until I ate a little something), made them chocolate-chip and banana pancakes and been on my computer catching up with stuff. I know they will be up any second but I need to make this a New Year's Resolution because it's so much easier to be up before them and wake myself up than to get woke up by them and be so groggy when they are ready to roll.
Eric didn't get home until 8:30 p.m. last night so we had a long day. The girls are not eating much because they don't feel good. Poor Madison's face was all puffy with blood shot eyes all day yesterday.
It is only one week before Christmas now. I am so excited! We probably won't have a real tree. Eric called the tree farm yesterday and they were fairly nice and said we could bring it back for a refund but they told us that they tell everyone to spray it with Raid and let it sit out for 24 hours before they bring it inside. Huh??? They certainly didn't tell us that NOR would I have done that. I referred a couple of people there this year so it will be interesting to ask them if they were told that. No matter, it's really not their fault and I'm glad they will give us a refund. We have a small artificial tree we'll put up (about 1 foot tall is all) and put the ornaments Madison has made this year on it along with the picture ornaments from this year. It's just a lot of work at this point to get another tree and decorate it with Christmas next week. I asked Madison what she wanted to do and she said "let's just get one next year". It's pretty sad but I know she only said that because our tree was blocking the TV and she didn't like that. Anyway, the main reason I think we'll pass is that I'm still freaked out by the whole thing and don't want to deal with it again this year. We'll try again next year, ECK! I'm itchy again.
I actually had something I planned to blog about when I got to the computer and completely forgot. I've been blogging random things but can't remember what I signed in for. Oh well, must not have been that important.
We have a very uneventful week leading up to Christmas so if anyone is up for a play date or wants to join us this weekend for the train ride in Bow let us know. I love this magical time of year. The wind is really blowing here right now and hasn't really stopped for long over the past several days. I love the snow and am trying to think of somewhere I "need" to go today so I can drive in it. Oh yeah, just remembered what I was going to blog about..........
I'm SO happy The Woods Coffee has opened in Ferndale. It looks so cute inside that I can't wait to take the girls in there (maybe the place I "need" to go today). I went through the drive up yesterday for some hot apple cider since my throat was killing me. It was a little strange as it was only steamed apple JUICE and not cider but was good anyway. I got a little spoiled by a place in B'ham that was serving Bellewoods hot apple cider at the drive thru (for only $1.50). I bought some cider at Trader Joe's but it wasn't as good. I kept forgetting to get some Bellewoods cider at Haggen, hope they still have some (maybe another place I "need" to go today). I really won't go anywhere because it wouldn't be very responsible to take everyone out in this cold while they are sick. I'm just dreaming about it because a day at home without leaving isn't one of my favorite things. Okay, now that I can't get anymore random or boring with this blog I will go and try to find something to do with myself. Thankfully I put the pancakes in the oven at a low temp so they wouldn't be cold. The last time I blogged about the girls still sleeping in the morning they woke up the instant I hit "publish" so that will probably happen again.
Hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful snow and the magic of the season. Merry Christmas and love & hugs!
