Family Movie Night

Tonight we had a family movie night. We had the best time! Above is the picture of dinner. I got some frozen pizzas and cut them into circles to make a snowman. This was a last minute plan so we had to work with what we had and use frozen pizzas but we think he turned out cute and the girls had fun decorating him. We are limited in our usage of toppings as olives are the only thing the girls want on their pizza. I realize it would have probably been better (and tastier) to use some pizza dough and put on all the toppings yourself. We'll do it again soon and get a little more creative. After dinner we watched Camp Rock. The girls were glued to the TV and loved it. Madison got a Mitchie doll for her birthday and got to see what movie the doll was from tonight. We also popped popcorn and they got a couple of Starburst candies. Not the healthiest of evenings but it was a special treat and it was nice to actually sit with them and watch a movie for a change. Madison kept asking if we could do it again soon.
Holiday Idea: I was reading the latest copy of Family Fun magazine and read about this great holiday idea that I thought I would share. The idea is to have an advent calendar and to fill each day with a piece of paper listing a holiday activity to do. Some examples would be: baking Christmas cookies, taking a special treat or gift to a neighbor or friend, driving around to look at Christmas lights, doing a holiday craft, going ice skating, watching a holiday movie, baking snowman pizzas, etc. It's easy to come up with the ideas once you get going. I started my list last night and within a few minutes had more than 25 things so I'll have to condense the list. We got an advent calendar yesterday and I'm hoping this will be a yearly tradition that can be passed on. I am excited that this idea will help fulfill my desire to slow down this holiday season and really soak it up. I love this time of year and want to spend it enjoying family, remember what the season is all about and stepping back from the commercialism as much as possible.
