Exhaustion

I can't recall the last time I have been so tired. My muscles are aching and my eyes are twitching and burning. Last night the muscles of my upper arm were spasming so much I was just laying there watching my arm freak out. Tonight is the last night of clinicals for three days and I'm so glad for the break. What has made this all so much harder is how the girls are doing. Madison gets more upset each day I go and yesterday was horrible. She was crying and so sad. We had a little talk yesterday morning and she was so upset asking me not to go yesterday. I felt so sad and we talked about all the fun things we have coming up as soon as school is over. There will be so much fun to be had hopefully these two weeks will be forgotten.
Things are getting better though. Things are moving much more smoothly and the residents continue to be great. The work is still hard and I do not intend to work in a nursing home of any kind but I have a whole new respect for the workers of nursing homes. I know there are a lot of stories about sub-par care (to put it mildly) in nursing homes but I would definitely say that comes from understaffing and not the fact that the workers don't do a good job. I can only speak for the particular place I have been working but there is a wonderful staff of really caring people there.
We didn't get to do our showers last night on the residents since they had already had one but we will be doing one tonight. I also get to work with the therapist one day next week which will be a nice break from all the charting that we always scramble to get done last thing in the evening. We'll get to observe him with the residents and watch how they do their exercises. The other students say he's great with them and really fun to learn from.
Eric and the girls have been having fun at home and doing lots of bike riding at the school around the corner. They have been walking to the library and grilling dinner that they eat outside. I wish I was home to enjoy all of that with him but I'm thankful he is home to do this while I finish up this class. I don't know how I could have done it without him home.
There isn't much else going on around here. I haven't opened mail or paid bills, finished scholarship applications or done anything else that I need to do but maybe that will warrant a couple of hours at The Woods this weekend. I really miss the kiddos and can't wait to have a fun weekend with them but I will need a little quiet time too if I am going to get caught up a little. Two more days next week followed by the finals and I'm done, whoo hoo!
