First Burial

After our trip to Wenatchee the girls really wanted a dog. We made a compromise and got them each a goldfish. Unfortunately, both goldfish died within a week and a half. Madison was really upset when her fish died. I felt so bad for her, life lessons are tough ones sometimes. Kennedy's fish died the next day and she didn't seem to be too upset about it but she also wasn't as interested in getting a pet as Madison was. We buried the fish in the backyard and they put a painted rock over them. We all require baby steps with pets because I've never really had a pet aside from a cat when I was a girl and I also don't do well with death so I think these baby steps are good for all of us. I'm not a big lover of fish in fish bowls and I found I didn't like the mucky water even after a week but I also don't think we are ready to move beyond fish yet so we'll be exploring some different types of fish and reading lots of books about death from the library (as requested by Madison). I just love how she asked to get books from the library on different topics. I don't know what we would do without our local library, I would never be able to expose the girls to such a variety of books if we didn't have it.

Oh gosh, there is Madison all sad in the background and then there is Kennedy all smiles. I say go for the Betta. They are meant to be in small spaces So I do not feel so bad putting them in a small bowl. plus easy to take care of.
