Getting Ready for Spring

Madison helped Eric get the garden ready for planting. I haven't thought too much about what I'm doing with the garden yet. Last year I was disappointed by the aphids in my garden ruining things. I did get some new seeds and need to get out there and get them planted. Eric got the weeds out and mixed in some organic compost. One bed is full of strawberries and I'm going to make one bed a "salsa garden" and so some carrots, herbs, peas and beans at the least. Maybe a zucchini plant or two. I always do a bunch of cucumbers too. That should do it probably. I also bought some farm bucks at a local organic garden so we'll have credit there to get more produce and I love taking the kids there to help pick out our produce and pick it ourselves.

We also got the clothesline hung but it broke shortly after this picture was taken. It's not in the best spot (hanging right over the garden). I really want to cement a post in and put up a parallel style dryer but I hesitate to permanently take up a chunk of yard for it. We'll see.

While they were working outside I was inside cleaning out closets. Eric did a great job taking care of the kids while I was going to school last quarter but things like closets, cupboards and drawers showed the neglect. I feel so much better when closets or organized! We took tons of stuff to the consignment store. It was hard to get rid of some baby items that my girls used but it was time. As hard as it is to admit, they are no longer babies. They are amazing girls growing up too fast but doing it beautifully.
