I'm now 16 1/2 post surgery. The pain is much, much better. The other complications are frustrating me though. I have started coughing a ton. Sorry to be gross but I have a lot of mucus in my throat and it's causing an almost constant cough. If I'm not lying perfectly still in bed I'm coughing and even in bed I'm coughing a lot. I'm trying to keep it at bay and ate a whole package of cough drops yesterday because it's putting a lot of stress on my surgery site and a big no-no for the healing process. It's involuntary and I just can't help it though.
Aside from that I have been taking a beta blocker because of the weird heart flutters and tachycardia. I'm not sure how well it's working and was instructed not to check my own blood pressure (I think the nurse practitioner still thinks it's anxiety, at least somewhat but I don't). Last night was the first night the weird episodes did not wake me but I think that could have more to do with going without good sleep for so many nights and just sleeping through them. I still felt them today so they are not gone.
I am scheduled to wear a holter monitor but not until the end of December. I'm hoping this all gets resolved before that. I'm just looking SO forward to feeling well, having energy and getting back to my normal life. I'm looking forward to going to the gym and trying to keep some of this weight off but I'm now back on real food and lying in bed isn't doing me any good so I need this cough to go away.
This recovery process has just been so darn frustrating. Once one thing seems to improve I am faced with another complication. I will be so thankful when things have returned to normal.
