Tonight was a special night at Hovander Park. They were having one of their summer Storytimes in the Garden. The girls and I picked up some sandwiches for dinner and headed out. It was a gorgeous night and I wish I had taken a picture of Mt. Baker because it was gorgeous and so clear from the park. We set up our chairs in the storygarden and found some shade to eat before the storytelling began.
This is one of the free offerings that is part of the same program as our Saturday Veggie Patrol Gardening Class. I am so surprised there isn't more of a showing for this stuff, it was so much fun.

Sitting on Paul Bunyan's chair before the stories began.
Kennedy made a new friend. This girl is an animal lover, no doubt about it.
The storyteller was amazing. She was so animated and descriptive. She had an English accent that added to the enjoyment of the stories. We sat and listened to about 4 or 5 of her stories and the girls did great. Kennedy got a bit fidgety towards the end but did amazing considering we were sitting there for an hour.
Storytime in the garden is always followed by cookies and milk. It just warms my heart to see people doing these kinds of great programs for kids. What a wonderful evening to spend outside with a picnic listening to stories and getting cookies and milk. It doesn't get much better than that.
