Madison has been planning her birthday party activities for weeks. We had a list and we were going to do them all and have a wonderful day. Unfortunately, about 10 minutes before we were going to leave the house Kennedy got sick and threw up. What a bummer that was. We didn't want to ruin Madison's birthday but couldn't take Kennedy anywhere so Eric stayed home with Kennedy and I took Madison to do a few of the things on her list with the promise to reschedule the rest very soon.
Our first stop was lunch at Subway.
After that we went to Katie's Cupcakes. We bought four and then found out she got a free cupcake for her birthday...bonus! Madison and I had one there and we took the other three with us. This little shop is so cute, we love going in there.
And then to Village Books to pick out a new book. Many of these things are what Kennedy did on her birthday so Madison wanted to do them on hers as well. She got Beezus and Ramona.
This green car is what she picked out at the toy store.
Our last activity for that day was a haircut. She wanted to get a new haircut for school and she wanted it short. The picture above is before the haircut.
She did a great job. Kelly spends a lot of time getting the hair perfect and Madison was very patient.
Ta-Da!
Kennedy enjoyed her chocolate cupcake after dinner. I'm not sure what was wrong with her that morning but she was fine after a little nap and a few hours. By the time we got home she was bouncing off the walls and her normal self. Thanks goodness!
Madison enjoying her second cupcake. We had grilled turkey burgers for dinner, Madison's choosing.
A little dress up time after dinner. My girls fight as much as any siblings but they truly love each other so much. I am so happy to see how much they love and depend on each other. They are so lucky to have each other and I'm so lucky to have them.
And a little late night bike riding in the dark. This was on her list and they had so much fun riding bikes outside when they were supposed to be in bed.
Go Kennedy!
Lastly, Eric and the girls camped in the backyard. This picture was actually taken last night (night #9). Tonight makes 10 nights in a row that they have camped in the backyard starting on the night of her birthday. They have been having so much fun out there. I was supposed to sleep out there with them but started feeling sick again that afternoon. The next morning I went to the Walk In Clinic to find out I had strep throat for the second time in a row. I was disappointed not to be out there with them but also glad to have a full nights sleep while sick. Despite the interruption of Kennedy getting sick she had a great birthday. We made time last week to reschedule the trip to Zuanich for some bike riding and kite flying. That was so much fun, Madison did a great job with the kite. The last thing on our list is a trip to Edalean Dairy for an ice cream cone. I'm sure we'll find time to do that very soon.
