Madison's First Full Day of Kindergarten

Today was Madison's first full day at school. Yesterday was only two hours so today was the big one! This morning went so much better than yesterday and she was bugging me all morning about going to school. She was ready and excited. She had a couple of minor anxious moments but was looking forward to her day.
Here she is as we started walking to the school.

We got there with a couple of minutes to spare so her and her sister posed for a picture.

Today her school had a BBQ and families were invited to attend. I bought Madison and Kennedy a lunch ticket and met up with Madison in the lunch room. She was happy to see us and we were happy to see her. Kennedy was ecstatic and so mad when we had to leave, she wanted to go to class with the kids. She just loved getting into the lunch line and tried to get into the class line after recess. Madison will be taking her own lunch although the school has hot lunches. I wish schools offered healthier lunches for the kids these days.

After lunch we went out to the playground with Madison. We've been playing at this playground for a long time since it is right around the corner from our house so she is familiar with it. She's a big fan of the monkey bars.

Kennedy kep taking off and I could barely keep track of her. I was relieved when it was over and she was safe at my side. This girl is fearless!

All in all it was a wonderful first full day of school. I'm glad we have the weekend to recover a bit, it's been a very long week of orientations, PTO meetings, assessments, half days, BBQs and finally the full day. Next week will be a regular week and hopefully get us all on a more regular schedule. We are using our "School Days" Chart we made and it's working well. We go through the list every morning and make sure we don't forget everything. It's helping us all stay on track. This will be a very exciting year filled with so many new things for all of us. We are all looking forward to it!
