There are some successes and failures in the garden this year. Above is a picture of the teeny tiny cucumbers that are starting to grow. These are one of my favorite things to grow.
I didn't plan to grow tomatoes since I never seem to get it right, even when I buy a hanging tomato plant but this plant seems to be doing great. There are tons of tomatoes on them and no signs of disease so I'm hopeful for some yummy tomatoes soon.
Here is one of the failures. I'm not sure what happened to the cauliflower but this is what it looks like. It wasn't overgrown because I was watching it very closely and it was a tiny little head of cauliflower that just started sprouting out like this. Bummer, I pulled it after I took this picture.
The kale is really growing. I've never grown kale so I'm not even sure when to harvest it but I suppose I could start anytime.
Some overgrown spinach.
I never had a chance to thin the carrots so I'll have hundreds of tiny little carrots. That will be fine, the kids will probably like them like that.
Eric transplanted the sunflowers from the garden to the area around the deck. They looked very sad right afterwards and lost some leaves but now are doing great. I'm excited for some big yellow sunflowers and seeds to feed the birds in the fall.
