Perfect Summer Day

Today was a great day. This morning the girls woke up to their new nightgowns and wanted to put them on right away. They loved them and it made me so happy to see them so happy.
After breakfast we got ready and got some lunches packed and headed out. Our first stop was the Bellingham Library for their summer concert series. Today also happened to be the yearly children's craft fair on the library lawn. There were dozens of tables set up with all kinds of great crafts made by kids and everything was really inexpensive. Not only were there fun things to look at but it also was a great place just to get ideas to make at home. The girls were each given $2.00. They both chose a Rice Krispie Treat. Madison got two bracelets with charms and Kennedy got a necklace with a charm. I don't even think Kennedy used all of her $2.00.
After the library we headed to REI to pick something up that I had ordered and then we drove to Larrabee State Park to check out the campsite for our camping birthday party event next weekend. After that I drove Madison to Arne Hanna Aquatic Center where Eric met us so she and Eric could go to the open swim. I took Kennedy back down to Fairhaven for a little date with my baby.

This poor child is subject to far too many pictures but she never looks at the camera so I have to keep snapping away. Green ice cream is her new favorite and thankfully they had it at The Colophon. She loves ice cream!

Who doesn't?

After The Colophon we headed to the Fairhaven Toy Garden. She got a postcard in the mail for her birthday giving her 20% off anything in the store and also a special birthday prize. This girl told me for 30 minutes that she didn't want anything and just wanted to "play". I was about to give up but then she spotted the dress up clothes. She was riding this tricycle all over the store. There weren't that many people in there and I made sure it was okay with them (which it was) but she was having so much fun riding all around in there, it was very funny to me.
I don't typically let the kids pick out their own birthday present but I've been having such a hard time finding something for Kennedy.

Here she is picking out her birthday prize from the treasure chest.

Bubbles!

After that Eric and Madison met us at Fairhaven Park. We grabbed some dinner for a picnic and the girls had fun playing in the water.

We ate our dinner while the girls played in the water/ate.

It was a gorgeous day and nice to go to this park late in the afternoon when it isn't as crowded as it normally is earlier in the day.

Time for some dry clothes.

After the picnic and playtime we headed up to the grass area on the other side of the covered picnic area for the real reason we went to the park in the first place.

The Bellingham Children's Theatre was performing a play in the park. I have been taking Madison to a few productions but was so glad when I heard about this particular one so that we could also take Kennedy. She loved it and sat very quietly during the whole thing.

It was a fun play with some very interesting characters.

It was a full day of sun and fun and I was thankful to get a little bit of time with just my Kennedy. What a wonderful summer!
