I've been trying to clean out the house for an upcoming garage sale. We cleaned up the garage on Sunday and on Monday I started with the most daunting...the girls bedrooms. Above is the picture of Madison's closet before I cleaned it out. It might be hard to see how messy it is but it was driving me crazy how messy it was. We ran out of hangers and clothes were just getting set on the dresser. I've always hated clutter and when the house gets cluttered I get anxious. Also, because I knew we were going to have a garage sale soon I just kind of let things get out of hand.
More piles of "stuff"! All the little toys the kids get at various places for various things, you know...the cheap plastic stuff, was haunting me - ACK!
I'm not very good about making the girls' bed or having them do it. It's one of the things I need to start getting better at before school starts.
Madison's closet after I was done. All the clothes are hanging up, yah! I didn't get rid of too many clothes from her closet, most things still fit unless they were pants which were way too short in most cases. We measured Madison the other day and she was 4 feet tall!! The closet probably doesn't look that much better because more craft things ended up in there but it's organized at least...for now.
There is officially no more interim clothing storage. Once Madison outgrows something it doesn't fit Kennedy. Their body shape is so different and Madison is so tall that the clothes Madison wore just don't fit Kennedy. It's a bummer but things like dresses and things can be passed down. At least I don't have to have clothing storage now I guess but I always have fun pulling out Madison's old stuff to put in Kennedy's closet. The bonus is that they have fun sharing clothes now.
The top of her dresser has been my nemesis. This is where she puts everything. It was completely covered before. Also, that top drawer is where she has all of her hair things, jewelry, little stuff, etc. so that took quite a while. I got one full garbage bag full of stuff out of her room and she hasn't missed one thing. She loved it and was thanking me for finding a few of her lost treasures.
I don't have a before picture of Kennedy's closet but here is the after. I'm looking at these pictures thinking they don't actually look that cleaned out but compared to what it started as it looks a lot better. Everything is hung up and things all have a place. We still have too much stuff but we've got more baby clothes and toys in this sale than ever before. I can't believe all those tubs outside were in the house. It will be so nice to get rid of them. Oh, and look at all the empty hangers...time to shop?? Only kidding!
