I'm really bummed that I didn't take a picture of the final product. This year I made several gifts for teachers, friends, and family and this is just step one. I found a super cute owl recipe card template that allowed me to type the recipe out and print it. I did the front and the back and then I had them laminated. I used my absolute favorite recipe, the one I have made more than any other (beet, kale and walnut salad) and it happened to fit perfectly on the template. I attached it to a nice bottle of Trader Joe's balsamic vinegar (one of the ingredients of the recipe) and wrapped it in a ribbon. I love giving gifts that I would love to receive and I would love to receive a gift like this. I hope everyone else did.
For Madison's teacher we made her this wall hanging made out of broken crayons. We also made her a keychain and a scarf. I'm a sucker for handmade gifts, I think they are so much more thoughtful. She seemed to really love it!
Here is my little Santa!
The girls outside of Trader Joe's. Can I just say Trader Joe's is indispensable at holiday time.
We also made a quick trip to Wenatchee the week prior to Christmas. It was very last minute but so much fun. My mom called and was heading that way from southern Oregon the next day so we decided to go and meet her there. The drive was gorgeous and we got to see some pretty white stuff, the stuff we haven't got to see around here. Unfortunately the pass was the only place we got to see it, there was no snow in Wenatchee.
We stopped for lunch at Gustav's in Leavenworth. We spent that afternoon/evening hanging out with my dad and his wife. The next day we visited Eric's mom and then headed to my brother's house where we spent the evening with his family and my mom. We had an amazing dinner and played Cranium (the girls won, by the way). It was so nice to see everyone especially since we didn't think we were going to see anyone at Christmas. The next morning my mom took us out to breakfast and then we headed home. It was short but sweet. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures in Wenatchee.
The only other picture I took was of the girls on the way home. We played hard and they were two tired girls on the way home.
